Format: Print Books

#50-Adam Callahan just wanted a quiet refuge from all the pain and suffering he has seen as a New Orleans policeman. Now retired he still encounters someone suffering when he hears weeping from an open window of the Sanctuary House Inn Bed and Breakfast. The smell of something burning pushes him further from his comfort zone. He inquires about a room and if he can help. Stella Forsythe in turn asks if he can make blueberry muffins-imagine her surprise when he replies yes,he was a cook in the Navy, and continued to cook for police get-togethers. So begins a convenient arrangement for all involved. Adam helps cook and repair whatever is needed at the B&B while Stella provides him a room and meals.

Stella has inherited the rundown place from her estranged mother which has caused her life to be anything but serene. She has a 6 yr.old son,Kyle, who is the one positive from a bad marriage, plus cares for her elderly father who is in poor health.

There are many aspects of both Adam's and Stella's lives they have pushed aside but even now they are huge influences in how they live each day. Slowly they manage to realize that changes have to be made, but do they have faith enough to do this? Once they do,what does the future hold for them?

This was a wonderful book by Lenora and she allows us to experience humor, sadness, love, and much more. I really liked the setting being in a rural area, and the B&B aspect always draws me in. This is another keeper for my collection by this author.
