Pollyanna MacDonald is doing more than trying to get away from the big city when she moves with her eight-year-old son Gil to Mule Hollow, Texas. She's trying to get away from all the pain of being in a place where memories of Marc are all around her. Next-door neighbor, the reclusive Nate Talbert, at first makes no effort to get to know the MacDonald's, but when he finally overcomes enough of his emotional pain from the loss of his wife to welcome them to Mule Hollow, he discovers a flood in the making: Polly has tackled the plumbing!
Nate's rescue of Polly and her menagerie is only the beginning, and at times, he regrets his initial impulse to say "Hello." Polly has a way of getting under his skin, and even though it's been three years since he lost his beloved Kayla, Nate isn't ready to move on. Gil, however, becomes increasingly attached to Nate, and Nate is touched that Gil wants to learn things now that he's "the man of the house."
Can two people who have loved and lost love again? The matchmaking posse of Mule Hollow certainly hopes so!
This was a delight. Debra writes from the heart, and her characters are real, from the Hero & heroine, the adorable boy, the citizens of Mule Hollow, right through Bogie the Shar-Pei and Pepper the Cockatiel, whose comments are often hysterically funny! Highly recommended, whether or not you've ever read a Mule Hollow book!
