Notorious Rake, Innocent Lady - Bronwyn Scott - Harlequin Historical #896 - May/08

Backcover Synopsis - THE GOING PRICE FOR JULIA PRENTISS'S VIRGINITY WAS FIFTEEN THOUSAND POUNDS

Determined not to enter into a forced marriage, Julia could see no way out--unless she were to become a ruined woman!  Notorious rake Paine Ramsden was reputed to have no qualms about seducing innocents, so maybe he would help with her predicament.

Certainly, Paine deserved his rakish reputation, yet Julia was so achingly pure, one night with her might just ruin him!  Awakening Julias's sensuality aroused unfamiliar feeling in him--was it too late to make them both respectable?

Personal Opinion - This book, which took place after George III died, is still classed as being in the Regent period but the Ton does not seem as straight-laced.  The heroine chooses disgrace over a forced marriage and choose a notorious rake to do the deed.  However, he is not as jaded as it appears and tries to save the girl even though he has ruined her.  He also has a vendetta against her betrothed which adds to the mayham that ensues
