The One I Want by Nancy Warren (Kensington Brave May 2008)

I was going through one of those times that almost all readers go through when nothing appealed to them. I couldn't find a book I just couldn't put down and not because I don't have a lot of fabulous books on my TBR pile. Those books just weren't the right ones to get me out of my slump. Then fate stepped in and I won The One I Want on Alison Kent's blog. I just couldn't put the book down. It was just what I needed to get my reading desire back.

Blurb from Nancy Warren's website:

Lucky for Chloe Flynt, everyone knows it's harder to get out of a bad relationship than it is to get in one. But when it comes to hot, steamy, long-lasting passion, even Chloe is at a loss-until this British playgirl comes face to face with a true-blue Texas cowboy who tempts her to toss away her commitment phobic habits one and for all for a walk down the aisle...

Falling in love is much harder than breaking up...

With three broken engagements under her oh, so fashionable belt, it's high time London party girl Chloe Flynt gets a job. Unfortunately, Chloe isn't exactly qualified for anything, except dumping a Mr. Wrong or two (or three!) with a little dignity. Realizing she needs a new beginning, she lands in Austin, Texas and opens a company breaking up bad relationships.

Too bad Chloe's tall, tough-talking and take-charge landlord, Matthew Tanner, isn't interested in her expertise. Because anyone can see that his girlfriend is clearly all wrong for him. Not that Chloe cares. She and Matthew have nothing in common-other than mind-blowing attraction, that is. But when his girlfriend requests Chloe's services, all hell breaks loose. If there's one thing Chloe knows for sure, it's that just because she's good at breaking up bad relationships doesn't mean she has a talent for putting together good ones. Maybe it's finally time she gives it a try...

My Thoughts:

I didn't except to love Chloe the way I did. Just from reading the blurb I thought I might find Chloe little self-centered and snobby. Chloe didn't come across as either. I loved her just as much as I did Matt. I loved the push and pull between the two of them. They were constantly fighting their attraction to each other from day one. The interaction between them was fabulous.

Also, the two subplots added to the overall story. Sometimes I will get to the subplot section of a book and want to get back to the main story. That was not the case with The One I Want. The way the subplots were written between Stephanie & Rafe and Deborah & Jordan made the overall story between Chloe and Matt better.

I would be reading along and laugh out loud. I just love any book that can make me do that. The books left me wanting more. I have already research Nancy Warren's back list because I loved this one so much.

A fabulous read that I would definitely recommended.
