Mate of the Wolf by Karen Whiddon (Nocturne Bite, 2008)
Copied Blurb:
Rule Number One--Date only Pack members.... She knew he was definitely not part of the Pack, but the immediate intense attraction Allie felt for Kane overwhelmed her good sense and convinced her to toss her rules out the window. The fact that she couldn't detect his scent did not concern her--she knew he was unlike any man she'd ever known, and she had to be with him, whatever the cost. He couldn't believe she didn't recognize him--he'd known instantly what she was. After four hundred years, Kane had finally found his Svetla, his one true mate. But a union between their two races was expressly forbidden. So now it was time for Kane to break some rules of his own....
My Review:
I really, really like Whiddon's writing style. This bite was fantastic!! She added a twist I haven't seen in her other books, which I really enjoyed. Highly recommend!!
My Rating: 4.5
Mistress In a Bind by Jenesi Ash (Spice Brief, 2008)
Copied Blurb:
The erotic adventures of career mistress Amaris Martin continue in this newest chapter in the deliciously naughty Mistress Diaries. Introducing her to an exclusive Seattle bondage club, Amaris's benefactor Leon is displeased when he discovers Amaris just doesn't do submissive, and takes off, leaving her tied up. While waiting for him to return, Amaris discovers the joys of voyeurism as she becomes intensely aroused watching the other couples. But when someone attacks and seriously injures Leon, she decides to infiltrate the club with Leon's assistant Kyler and do whatever is necessary to expose the culprit--even if it means being submissive and letting Kyler have his way with her.
My Review:
Okay, first of all, the back blurb was totally incorrect. The only sentence in the blurb that is correct is "But when someone attacks and seriously injures Leon"...otherwise, the blurb is totally made up. I promise, I read it, and none of the other things happen. I don't understand why people are allowed to write a back blurb without reading it. The story was good...but why make up facts about the story that just plain aren't there? I am not sure what else to say, other than I enjoyed the story, but the blurb was incorrect.
My Rating: 4
Reason Enough by Megan Hart (Spice Briefs, 2008)
Copied Blurb:
Elle and Dan haven't quite achieved their goal of having sex in every room of their new house--but almost! Marriage hasn't dampened their hunger for one another in the least, and their relationship is as hot and passionate as ever. But when Dan brings up the subject of having a baby together, Elle finds herself conflicted. Between her dysfunctional family background and her fear of how a baby might change their life together, Elle's not sure she's ready for the big step. Dan doesn't bring the subject up again, but the issue takes hold in Elle's mind. And as their frequent lovemaking sizzles with unquenchable desire, Elle's heart is filled to the brim with love and the longing to give Dan *everything*.
My Review:
I really enjoyed seeing Elle again from Megan Harts full-length novel, Dirty. It was absolutely fantastic. I do recommend reading Dirty first, then this story, and you will get a nice kind of epilogue. Loved it!!
My Rating: 4.5
The Priestess by Elliot Mabeuse (Spice Briefs, 2008)
Copied Blurb:
To become a priestess to Astarte, the goddess of love and war, was to embody the goddess's urgent sexual hunger and the ecstasy of her fulfillment. As Tia stood before Astarte's statue, she knew this was her destiny. She felt transformed--no longer a timid young girl, but a woman, bold and willful, filled with passion and knowledge beyond her years. She'd been chosen by Prince Nekhet, 4th son to the Pharoah, for a night of love. And as the spirit of Astarte moved through her, her sensuality bloomed, and she became shameless, voracious ... and irresistible, as she transported herself and the prince to unimagined heights of pleasure.
My Review:
I absolutely love everything Egyptian, particularly Ancient Egypt. So I was thrilled when I saw this one as a Brief. And loved the first three quarters of the story. I felt the h's anticipation, and her longing. However, as this is a Spice Brief, and the focus is really on sex, I found the sex to be less than it perhaps should have been. It seemed to be too much from a male perspective, rather than a female perspective. I really should give it two ratings. One on storyline, and one on sex, which I will do.

back blurbs....
I really, really, really hate it when the back blurb is wrong! I read one book and then wrote a review of it.... looked at Amazon and TWO reviewers had the same sort of information that was in the back blurb that I swear was NOT there! Needless to say, that's two reviewers I now ignore. I can understand that things change from the arc to the actual released copy (I've seen it happen actually) and so I understand some details being wrong.... but the whole blurb? ARGH!
Stepping off soap box now as this is yep, a major pet peeve of mine......

Hey Debi!
Hey Debi!
And I really think this one would have bothered you a lot! I don't know all that much about the publishing industry...but I wonder why this blurb passed inspection, from both the author and the editor?? It was very, very strange because, as I was reading it, getting closer to the end, yet the blurb just wasn't happening.
I can't believe other reviewers would fake their reviews like that. Can you comment on their reviews?
Soap Box welcome here, Debi! Blurbs are really important, as it is one the things that cause us to buy/read our books in the first place.
Take Care,
Tammy

Thanks for the heads up
about Mistress In a Bind by Jenesi Ash, I do plan on buying it during my next ebook purchase. It's good to know in advance.
Hey Jillyan!
So nice to see you! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, my fam and I went camping this weekend.
Have you read any of the other Jenesi Ash Briefs? Even though they aren't romantic Briefs, per se, I have enjoyed them anyhow.
