Oxygen

Carol Cassella is a debut author who has written an emotionally gripping novel.

Ms. Cassella is actually a doctor herself, so she has written a novel about what she knows...the world of anesthesiology.  In Oxygen, fictional character Dr. Marie Heaton has a flawless record until the surgery where nothing goes as it should, and a young girl dies.

From here Marie is thrown into one emotional moment to the next.  Is there one defining moment where it will all overwhelm her, or will she take all these moments and apply them to her life, and use them to learn from?

Oxygen is not an easy read on so many different levels.  There is a lot of medical terminology, and large words which I fear are not in the lexicon of the every day reader.  The story itself is heartfelt and will potentially make readers need a break.

Overall I'd have to say Oxygen is a read for those readers who prefer books somewhere between the easy flowing style of so many of those Harlequins that we love to devour and those which Oprah chooses for her bookclub.
