Back Cover:
From their first meeting, Jemma had known that forever wasn't in Leon Stephanades's vocabulary. She was inexperienced, but the passion between them was so powerful that she cast her doubts aside and agreed to Leon's demand of a no-strings affair. Soon Jemma was head over heels in love, and couldn't imagine that she'd ever be the one to end the idyll...Until she found out that her love for Leon was to have a lasting price - and it meant having to let him go...
My Review:
Oh yum, the passion in this one was heart-racing. Leon was intent on having an affair with Jemma, he kissed and propositioned her moments after meeting her, every time their eyes met electricity just thrummed between them. He is a wealthy powerful man, so he thoroughly investigated Jemma in the next few days. When he caught her after a date with another man, he was jealous and delightfully possessive. They had a confrontation and Leon taunted her with what he knew about her, the best and most effective taunt being calling her a virgin, which was true. For once an alpha hero wasn't turned off of taking a virgin as his no-strings lover: he was intent on having her, he made the decision to make her his lover even knowing she came into it inexperienced and not knowing the score the same way more sophisticated women would (the heroine was his "grand passion").
Their relationship as lovers is wonderful and works fine, despite their busy schedules, until Jemma finds out she's pregnant. Jemma saw another woman try to trap a man with a pregnancy, and that ended in tears with the woman being rejected, aborting her baby, while the man was gleeful to be free. (I was actually very disappointed to hear the other woman aborted the baby, because I really liked the other couple initially and thought maybe Michelle Reid had written a spin off book about that couple!) Jemma decided not to tell Leon, not to trap him, and to have her baby in secret. Jemma was quite adorable pregnant, she had talks with her stomach, calling her unborn child "lump" lovingly.
The passion was hugely intense in this book, and the relationship between hero/heroine was unique and loving. The only negative thing I could say about this book is that after the hero finds out about the baby, the other conflicts seem trivial and the book drags a bit. The book could have ended with the hero finding out about the baby and accepting the baby, but instead there is a lot of plot that happens, extending the story. It was good in the end that the other conflicts came up though, because it meant they dealt with more of their personal issues and settled more permanently into a marriage that would be on strong footing.
Rating: 4/5 stars, I really recommend this one, it was an uber passionate read that gets your heart racing.
