My Review:
Hmm, this wasn't a premise I could empathize with: the hero and heroine seemed to only be "settling" by marrying one another. I didn't really believe they felt once-in-a-lifetime love for one another. The hero supposedly loves the heroine more than he loved his first wife who died, but the author didn't spend a lot of time convincing us of his love. The one thing I was convinced about was that the hero promised to be faithful, and he was, which was nice. But the heroine couldn't believe in his faithfulness without love. They were expecting a baby together, and occasionally the hero rested his hand significantly on her flat belly, but I didn't feel the heroine's anticipation of becoming a mother and I couldn't see their lives as loving parents. The ex-mistress was a total bitch and deserved to spend a little time in jail. A good thing about this book was the characters of Jace and Rebekah, who were introduced and have a book of their own. I'm interested in Jace and Rebekah's story.
Rating: 2.5/5 stars, this one just didn't make much of an impact on me.
