Perfectly Good Nanny by Paty Yager, The Wild Rose Press/ Yellow Rose, 2007
Carina Valencia showed up at Brock Hughes' ranch ready to be a nanny, only Brock had no idea she was coming and he couldn't afford a nanny. Misunderstandings were sorted out and it was found out that his daughter and an old Indian ranch helper hired her and her wages were already paid for the month. So Brock relented and agreed to let her stay the month and then see, but was soon trying to figure out a way to keep her longer. The children needed a woman's touch. His daughter's grandfather was trying to gain custody so maybe this could work to his advantage. He tried to give his daughter a mother's touch. But his second wife was a city gal who felt that ranch life was too isolated and left Brock a year ago with his 6 month old son. So now he vowed he wouldn't need a woman again but somehow Carina burrows into his heart.
This was a pleasant read. There wasn't much action to this story. Brock was solid, protective of loved ones. Carina didn't back down. Both had a lot of baggage they were carrying around
