PRECIOUS BLESSINGS by Jillian Hart LI 2/07

Since I enjoyed A SOLIDER FOR CHRISTMAS so much, I was anxious to know Katherine’s story.  She was portrayed as such a kind spirit in Kelly and Mitch’s book that I was intrigued to see just where she fit into the grand theme of this ongoing series.  Just what had happened in Katherine’s past?  Why is it easy for her to be understanding toward Jack’s daughter Hayden, when it would be just as easy to let the law handle the situation?

I really enjoyed seeing the love Jack has for Katherine unfold and seeing in that, his great compassion for her when he realizes just what Katherine has been unable to tell him about her past.  It’s this compassion which enables Katherine to finally break free from the nightmare thrust upon her on that long ago evening when she was away from all that was familiar, in a town so unlike home where she was attending college.

Watching Jack’s struggle to make decisions which would help his troubled daughter was emotional as she tries to come to terms with her mother’s death.  Taking this new job in Montana, a far cry for the Arizona sun was supposed to help ease her pain, yet she appears to be even more troubled as days go by.   Can he keep her safe by removing the bad influences, or is this something she has to work through herself?  Can her resentment toward Katherine turn into respect?

If you’ve enjoyed this series, here is yet another which will not disappoint.  Ms Hart has a lovely way with words and her characters are remarkable.   So, take some time and check out the latest from The McKaslin Clan.
