Spoiler Warning: All my reviews contain spoilers
Favourite Scene: (I like the hero's attitude to having a child because they mutually want one (in this case they aren't in love), it's smart and very nice of him to want this binding tie)
"For what it's worth, I think you'll make a terrific mother. And I want to be a part of any child we have from beginning to end. A legal, binding, no-getting-out-of-it connection that everyone in the world will recognize and acknowledge."
Another Fav Scene: (they just agreed to have a baby together, they kissed and went there own ways the other night. The first thing he does the next time he sees her is pull her into him)
He shut the door and swept her into an embrace, files and all. He had thought all day about that kiss and had been counting the minutes until he could kiss her again. She gave a squeak of surprise and then met his every move. The files impeded her own embrace, but he didn't care. Her mouth was what he craved and she was as hot and sweet as he remembered. Finally he pulled back, gazing down at her. She gave him a sassy look.
My Review:
The heroine is 28 and needs a hysterectomy, but wants to have a baby first. She goes on a hunt for a potential daddy, and her boss is perfect. The heroine jokingly asks him "Interested?" and he says in this sure tone that gives me chills, simply "yes". She remarks that he has time, he could have a child whenever he wanted with his choice of any woman, and the hero replies "I pick you" in a nice matter-of-fact way. I like that he's confident the heroine would make a great mother for his child. They have respect for each other and faith in each other's goodness.
One thing niggled at me, the hero's last relationship 10 months ago ended because his ex aborted their accidentally conceived child. The hero kept calling abortion a "heinous act" and yeah, I get that she was a vain woman and that was selfish, but I don't feel comfortable reading about abortion being that vehemently declared "heinous" and all the blame put on the woman. I can't see myself ever aborting a baby, but I don't want to condemn or lay a guilt trip on any woman who felt she had to have one.
A very nice book with real people, real conflict, it's not an overly dramatic story. Nicely written.
My Rating: 3.5/5 stars, I enjoyed it.
