Presumed Guilty

Format: Print Books
Series: MIRA

I love that Harlequin is re-issuing some of my favorite author's older books.  Presumed Guilty is a 1993 book by Tess Gerritsen, which holds up surprisingly well for 2008!  The heroine is guilty of committing adultery, but winds up being accused of murder.  Gerritsen unfolds the story in such a way that the reader never loses interest.  And speaking of interest, the hero is by far the more fascinating character.  The black sheep brother of the deceased lover has a few skeletons in his closet, but eventually is able to hold an unbiased view toward the heroine.  And eventually he becomes her only ally.  Wealth and power play their usual sinister roles, and there are so many red herrings thrown in that I think I suspected just about everyone of being the murderer at one point or another.  I promise, you will be surprised by who dunnit!  Well worth the read.

Best Wishes,
