A Princess of Mars
A Princess of Mars is a blend of Fantastic Fiction, Science Fiction and Romance.
John Carter is
transported to Mars after seeking shelter in cave. On Mars he becomes a prisoner of the Tharks. Tharks are cruel green four armed giants who
wander the Martian desserts. John
Carter's physical abilities win him the respect of the Tharks. He meets the beautiful Dejah Thoris, the
princess of Helium, who is also a prisoner.
At first, Dejah Thoris spurns John Carter. The cultures of Mars and a Virginian
Gentleman do not mix well. The two over
come their differences to escape and brave the long journey to Helium. I highly
recommend as a cross over work from the romance genre to fantastic fiction
genre.
Great line from the book:
"Why should I care what she thought? I looked down at her; her beautiful face
upturned, and her wonderful eyes opening up the very depth of her soul; and as
my eyes met hers I knew why, and-I shuddered." (p60)
I give it five out of five hops.
Articfrog
"And, they lived haply ever after."
