The Private Concierge by Suzanne Forster... QC #372

Lane Chandler has come a long way in the last 15 years. She used to streetwise prostitute Lucia Cox, who spent three years in Juvenile Hall, but now owner of The Private Concierge, a private concierge service for the rich and famous. Scandal seems to have hit some people and what these people have in common is they are clients of TPC. Could TPC have a security breach? When word starts to spread, clients start dropping Lane's business. One of former police officer, Rick Bayless's friend, Ned, was found dead, but it was ruled murder/suicide. When Rick checked out the scene later he found a TPC business card. As far as Rick knew Ned wasn't a client. But what he and nobody else knew was that Ned had signed a contract with Lane that morning and she had destroyed any connection between Ned and TPC because Lane can't afford anymore scandals hurting the business. Rick, now working privately wants to find out what happened to his friend, which leads him to Lane. He doesn't believe Ned would kill himself or torture his girlfriend as the police say. Rick knows about Lane's past. 15 years ago he was working vice and was the cop who arrested Lucia Cox. Who might have it in for Lane or her business? What is in the package the Ned was keeping for Rick? And someone is after Rick. Is it Lane, trying to keep her past hidden? Or someone else?
Another story where Ms. Forster raises numerous questions in the readers mind. This story kept me in suspense right from page one. I changed my mind a number of times of who the guilty party might be. Ms. Forster gathers a great group of characters that a reader wouldn't mind hearing more about. At the beginning it was hard to imagine Rick and Lane as the H/h, but eventually I couldn't see them with anyone else. There was an array of emotions hovering between these two that has been festering for 15 years. The mouse was a great touch and added a nice touch of humour to the story.

This sounds like a great read. I don't need any more books in the TBR. I have got to stop reading reviews and go back to reading. I want to know if this is part of a series or is it a stand alone book? Thanks Christa.
When I get a little money I buy books, and then if any is left I buy food and clothes..-- Erasmus
nope no series
nope this isn't part of a series. All characters are a first time meet. Kaelee though there are quite a few characters I'd love to see again.
Merri- loved the mouse too. Loved the way he burrowed under Rick's skin
