My thoughts: This was a great start to the Hightower Honors series. The Hightower men are a family of policemen & firemen who have sworn to protect and serve. Jason Hightower is faced with his hurtful past when Penny comes back home for her grandmother's funeral. It's been 15 years since they have seen spoken to each other. What he wants more than anything are answers - answers only Penny can give him. He won't let her go this time without them. Penny was a bit frustrating at times I wanted to shake her, but I love second chance at love themed books and this was a good one. You get meet the other Hightower men - Lawrence, Joel and Patrick, who will each have their own stories as well as Aunt Sophie, who needs someone to bring her down a notch or two.

Rating System: Excellent, highly recommend!!!! Great book, a must read!! Really good, should read. Good when your TBR pile is low/empty. Not so good, read is there is nothing else to read or do.

Penny...
I worried that people would be irritated with her. But I had to stay true to her character. Believe me when I realized what her story was and that she had essentially lied... I thought oh brother... here we go... readers are going to have a fit. LOL. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the novel. I'm having a blast writing this series.

Gwyneth - It wasn't the lie
Gwyneth - It wasn't the lie that frustrated me. I understood her in a way. We've all done things or at least I have in my young days that I don't know if I want people approaching me about now. Can't be easy to come clean especially with the kind of secret she had. She was just making it hard on herself. Getting in too deep before coming clean. I kept thinking the longer she waits the harder it's going it will be to tell the truth.
