A Question of Love by Annabel Murray (HP 1188)
Back Cover:
So this was how it happened!
Venna had often wondered what it would be like. It wasn't, as novelists implied, a sudden bolt from the blue.
It was just this quiet knowledge as she looked at him, this acceptance of the inevitable that had been growing in her for days. She had fallen in love with Keir Trevelyan.
She should have felt ecstatic. Instead she was full of despair. For Keir thought she was the woman who'd seduced his brother for the sake of a baby - and there was just no way to explain. Not without losing the baby - and Keir.

Favourite Scene:
"You win, this time. But," he went on and now he spoke emphatically, "if you ever do give yourself to a man, it's going to be me. Just remember that!"
My Review:
Venna's sister got pregnant on purpose, then died unexpectedly. The father of her baby was killed recently too, and the hero is his brother. The hero finds Venna and assumes that she is the mother of his niece. He thinks she's cold and uses men. He wants to marry her to get custody of the child. She plays a careful game of keeping out of his arms, because she's a virgin and the jig will be up if he finds out. This book was fun because the heroine walked a tightrope of keeping the child's parentage a secret, it caused tension and evoked a passionate response from the hero (the heroine couldn't remember what his brother looked like, so the hero was determined he at least would be unforgettable.) I liked the book. It was a bit dated by the passage of time.
My Rating: 3/5 stars, pretty good read.
