The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt
This is the first in Elizabeth Hoyt's "Prince" trilogy. I liked this book very much. I had never read anything by this author before and I believe this may be her first book. Very good period piece. I loved Anna and Edward. They were both so insecure but still wanting. Anna has a really good heart and did not have a happy marriage. Widowed 6 years before Anna is almost broke and caring for her mother-in-law and an maid. She decides she needs a job and luckily the Earl of Swartingham needs a secretary. The two a drawn together immediately and both enjoy the others company. Edward must fight his attraction to Anna because he is engaged to be married and he must marry and produce an heir so that his Earldom does not revert back to the crown after his death as he has no other relatives. Because she had no children during her 4 year marriage Edward and Anna assume she is barren. I loved Anna's trick to make love the Edward even though it was dangerous and she didn't have any hope of it becoming anything more. Again, I really liked this story and I have started the second book The Leopard Prince. Elizabeth Hoyt also included this ongoing fairy tale at the beginning of each chapter. Fairy tales seem to be a theme in this series.
