I am new here at Harlequin, and I am totally intrigued by the Marta Perry books! I actually just finished Restless Hearts.
I absolutely could not put the book down once I started reading it! I have emailed the author and thanked her because I seriously had not completed a book in 15 years!!! But, now I simply cannot wait for my new books to arrive - and, of course, I ordered nearly all Marta Perry books!
Anyway, Restless Hearts captivated me from start to finish. It is written in such a realistic way, but in such a lovely manner that I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through.
It centers around Fina Flanagan. She is new in town among a Pennsylvania Amish community, & she does not realize how deep her roots actually are until she lives there awhile.
She is obviously young & excited to start with her new career as a midwife. Her ties there are unbelivable as the community finds out that her own mother was one of their own who had left when a young lady, & they all felt betrayed & rejected by her, especilly her own mother - Fiona's grandmother. But, she died leaving Fiona never even remembering her mother! She did not realize any of this when she relocated there. Fiona does have a few quilting squares that only her own mother had, and when she asks the women in the store next door to make her a quilt - guess who is among the women quilters? Her own grandmother! It is very hard for her grandmother to adjust & accept Fiona.
She meets a wonderful, down home type of man who is the only policeman for the area, but he grew up Amish. He becomes her love interest, but it is written perfectly to leave it intriguing but lightly romantic in good taste for a Christian reader. Fiona has a hard time trusting anyone, let alone Ted, the policeman!
She has some hard times, but it all leads up to a wonderful ending. She even faces her own home & office burning down! She witnesses a break-in. But, through everything, she tries hard to trust God, and she contimnues to put her faith in the Lord.
And, I understand there are a few books about the Flanagans? I cannot wait until they get here so I can start reading them!
I must apologize that I am new, & I don't know how you all go about these book reviews? I do not want to give away the end to this wonderful book! So, I will stop here.
God Bless!

QUESTION? Anyone please help?
I am a 51 year's young woman. I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me the names of authors & books that are more for us "mature" women? Or, for middle aged women? I love all of my Harlequin books, but I know there must be some specifivcally directed for us older women out here?
I would appreciate any advice!
Thanks!
