Review: Seducing the Mercenary by Loreth Anne White
Set in the ficitional West/Central African state of Ubasi, Seducing the Mercenary is a wonderfully crafted story in which the heroine, Emily Carlin, is an agent sent to determine the fate of Ubasi's leader, Jean-Charles Laroque.
In the one week she's supposed to determine whether Laroque lives or dies, she gets a rare glimpse into the 'real' man. The sexual tension between the characters is as strong as the dangers of the politically unstable land they find themselves. The author uses wonderful descriptives and expressions that really makes a reader visualise the African setting.
Loreth Anne White has made me very proud to promote this novel to Africans, because from this side of the fence, I think her romantic version of Africa holds a lot of water. It is believable and completely satisfying.
I'll definitely be looking for her other books, particularly those in the Shadow Soldiers series.
