Ashley Carson tensed under her down comforter. Through the veil of her eyelashes, she watched her new lover quietly zip his custom-fit pants. She’d taken a bold step—unusual for her—by falling into bed with Matthew Landis the night before. Her still-tingly sated body cheered the risk. Her good sense, however, told her she’d made a whopper mistake with none other than South Carolina’s most high-profile senatorial candidate.  

My Review:

I liked this story, the couple were cute together.  I thought the opening scene was funny, where the heroine watches the hero dressing and "sneaking out" after their one-night stand.  It was nice that they protected and supported each other in the avoidance of scandal.  I liked the small moments between them because they showed tenderness, like how he held her as long as he could get away with after the fire, how he walked up behind her and kissed her neck.  I thought that the love declarations came a tad soon, they went from one-night stand to seriously in love and engaged in a matter of days.  I would have believed the love was long-term more if there was a bit more written about their interaction over the last few months (they had been working together... sexual tension could have been simmering between them).  I liked the "for the win" references, it made me grin.  Good read!  I'm really curious about Sebastian's story ...  he seems wrecked about his marriage breaking up.  And he's still wearing his wedding ring even though he's getting a divorce.  I want them to get back together.  I want to know why they are breaking up, and I hope it was a misunderstanding they can fix.
