When Ryan Forrester shows up on the doorstep she shares with her sister, Devan Richardson doesn't even ask why he wants to talk to her – he's got a big city appearance and that's bad enough for her. She just lies about who she is and the house number and when he comes back to confront her with the truth she dumps a bucket of water onto his head from the second story window. Of course her sister comes along eventually and Devan has to talk to Ryan – and learn that he is in fact Ryan, her editor from NYC. Devan wants him out as soon as possible – she wants nothing to do with books ever again and feels that everything she wrote has been a lie, bestselling or not. She'll do whatever it takes to convince Ryan she'll never write again, and in fact has been blocked for the past year. Ryan decides that starts with eating actual food and cutting the coffee addiction, moving in with Devan's sister's permission and nursing Devan through withdrawal.

SPOILERS: Of course, Devan's block has to do with the rough breakup she went through where her long term live in partner just walked out with no explanation one day. And of course once Ryan realizes the partner was also a writer (journalism) he diagnoses insurmountable professional jealousy which instantly makes sense to Devan and begins her healing process since she had thought it was her fault for not being able to relate to people and therefore not write. Ryan has taken two weeks vacation from his office but needs to go back and asks Devan to go down and live with him..and she agrees but when they get there things are awkward and they agree they need more of a commitment and love each other and will marry and live HEA!

I thought the caffeine addiction and withdrawal were interesting and liked the chemistry between Ryan and Devan but I wasn't into the relatively quick resolution. I mean, Devan is waif thin, not eating and completely ADDICTED to coffee and in comes Ryan to heal her in a matter of days? And they fall in love in the same period too? It just didn't seem realistic. I liked them both and appreciated the healing and wanted them to get together but it was too much too fast. Really when you hear how out of it Devan there is really no way... So that's why I'm not keeping this book.
