#32- This was a novel revolving around an 18-yr-old Amish girl,Sarah Schwartz, who was a natural beauty. She has a brother,Mark, and a sister,Martha, and they live with their parents,Ben and Deborah.
I am only vaguely familiar with the Amish ways but I really had a hard time with this book as the emphasis on her beauty was way overdone, the Amish are "plain" and humble people. Plus the idea of her parents allowing her and her sister to fly to New York City with an Englisher friend of their moms so Sarah could model some clothes just was way overboard.
There were too many actions and emotions allowed to grow, such as putting chemicals in a jar of cold cream to disfigure Sarah because of jealousy, and encouraging her to go work in the city with a young man and his designer clothes agency. Yes,I know they are allowed their year of freedom, but this had nothing to do with this. It makes for interesting fiction but too many inaccuracies, I can't recommend this one as the Amish don't deserve this . Harlequin-25 Other-7
