Save the Cat deails the principles of screenwriting (and really commercial story telling) in a breezy easy to read style. It is probably easier to understand than McKee's tome -- Story but contains many of the same elements.
His beat sheet appears to be fairly good at delinating a plot and seeing where holes are. he also gives a good explanation of a story board. However his approach is very diadatic.
Useful.
Snyder is speaking at the RWA conference and is reputed to be a dynamic speaker.
