The Secretary's Secret by Michelle Celmer (SD 1774)

My Review:

Great friends-to-lovers story!  Very light and warm, loving, friendly.  I love that the hero wants a family and has been hoping to find the right woman for five years.  The hero/heroine are friends and he's her boss.  I liked how he couldn't help but smile and be happy when she got the positive pregnancy test result.  The book has a lot of comedy to it, and I really liked that.  It was cute how the hero calls his future sister-in-law "pork chop" and she calls the hero "sugar lump".  I thought it was hilarious that coming from an ultra Catholic family the sister says her new special someone is an atheist and a woman.  The epilogue made me laugh and just GRIN... it's 11 years after their marriage and they do a run down of all the times the heroine got pregnant with each child.  Hilarious.  Really warm read, I loved this couple and they have such a happy life together.

My Rating: 4.5/5 stars, really really good book.  It's rare that I mark a SD a KEEPER, but I'm going to label this one.  It's a really great light and funny book.  Must read.

(that means you Margie, LOL!)

I Love this book. It is a keeper for me too. I thought it was sweet and funny. I loved that epilogue too. I loved seeing them so far down the road and knowing they were so happy.

Keeper!!!
Margie :)

Heh!  You got to this one

Heh!  You got to this one before me?  Maybe I read a review of yours on this?  I don't remember why I decided to pick it up. I know someone set me on a "Michelle Celmer" marathon by positively reviewing a book or two of hers.

This is the first Michelle Celmer KEEPER to make my list.  And it's only the second SD Keeper for me to have.  My keepers are all HPs basically, with now 2 SDs, and one or two Blazes.  And Angela Knight books....

Hi Janet

I read this last year so it wasn't a review by me. I think it just came up in a Keeper conversation. I'm glad you liked it. I also really liked the cover. I thought that the couple looked really sweet.

Hey, what is your other SD keeper?

Margie :)

Two other SD keepes, now

Two other SD keepes, now that I look back actually.

They have been friends (blood brothers) for 20 years.  They tried sex once when she was 17 or 18, but he married someone else.  He's had two failed marriages.  This book picks up after the second divorce comes through, she's there for him.  They work together, he's her boss.  They get along so smoothly, they are perfect friends and there is this basic attraction between them that just makes them want to touch each other (whether it's sexual or not).  The intimacy between these two people is absolutely amazing.  They are so close, every touch between them made me fall a little in love with love.  Their conflict was good.  I have put this on my list of "my absolute fav books, must re-read sometime".  Rating: 5/5 stars, I'd give it more stars if I could.  Read this book, it will not disappoint!  It's steamy and the love is so strong!  It makes you wish you had a relationship like this.

Part of "The Elliotts" series.  This is the story of Bryan Elliott, the only Elliott NOT involved in the publishing companies.  The reason he's not involved?  He's secretly been working as a spy!  His restaurant business is only a cover, which he enjoys in his spare time.  Bryan's been working with Lucy, a pretty and conservative bank worker, who accidentally stumbled on embezzlement and terrorists.   When someone finds out that Lucy has been working with Bryan and The Feds, Lucy's life is in danger.  Bryan pulls her out of danger, and hides her away at his personal home because he suspects the leak about Lucy came from within his organization.  Not able to trust anyone, they pretend Lucy is Bryan's girlfriend while they work together to get to the bottom of the puzzles.  They are attracted to each other from the start, but he's hesitant to give in because Lucy's in a vulnerable position and might regret it later.  Lucy won't let him say no though, and has her naughty way with him.  Yummy passion, with just the right amount of sponteneity and caring.  There was a lot of humour in this book, that just made me smile and laugh out loud.  These were two people who really cared about each other, and the author did a really good job showing us that through dialogue and insights into their heads.  Rating: 5/5 stars, I'm going to re-read this sometime, it was really good!
