Shadow Surrender by Linda Conrad (SRS-Night Guardians)

This is the 4th book in the Night Guardians series by Linda Conrad and is LucasTso's and Teal Benaly's story.

Lucas Tso is a Navajo medicine man who also has psyhic powers which are his special talent used by the Brotherhood to fight the Skinwalkers who are upsetting the harmony of the Dine. He has had vivid dreams of a mysterious woman for many years and when he meets Teal he realizes she is that woman.

Teal Benaly is an FBI special agent sent to the res to investigate strange happenings at a power plant. She soon finds herself face-to-face with Lucas and a lot of strange feelings about him and her long-denied Navajo heritage.

As the feelings between Teal and Lucas grow the danger to both of them also intensifies. Dark forces are at work and Lucas will need Teal to help fight them and save his life.

This story moves the series along and retells the Skinwalker legend but I did not like it as much as the first 3 books which I really enjoyed. I liked Lucas although I thought he was a bit too patient with Teal. She was hard for me to warm up to. Teal is a real hard case when she first arrives on the res but she does redeem herself.

Linda Conrad writes a good story and I think her books would really benefit from being written in a longer format. I always feel that I want more when I finish her books.

The setting is one of my favorites--the Four Corners area of the Southwest and I am always ready to read a book involving the Navajo. This book could be read alone but makes more sense as part of the series.

I really enjoyed

all the books in this series and I have a new book of hers just haven't gotten to it yet. I loved the Indian folklore and legends in these books.

Hi deb

I have all the books in this series and her new one. I love the Navajo lore also. I visited the reservation years ago on a trip to Arizona and have been fascinated with them ever since.
