Silent in the Sanctuary by Deanna Raybourn- #2 in Lady Grey Mysteries-MIRA-2008

#34-A message from the Earl March demanding the presence of his grown children at his estate for the Christmas holidays is not to be ignored. Lady Julia Grey has enjoyed her 6 month sojourn in Italy,but now has to gather everyone and return to a most unusual situation.

Once home they discover many guests already residing-one Julia isn't pleased to find,Nicholas Brisbane,but he now has a fiance also. Another guest happens to be a ghost who adds to the adventure.

Events begin to happen-one of the guests is murdered in the chapel,3 people plus Julia's dog are poisoned,jewels are stolen,laudanum disappears,a snowstorm keeps them all there.

Despite all of this,Christmas is a happy celebration with gifts,food ,church and family. 12th Night they dispersed,and soon after Julia,her dog and pet raven went to London with two of her family. Mail came but Portia hid a letter from Brisbane which Julia managed to find. He wanted Portia to come help him fix up an estate but not to bring Julia. Of course Julia immediately began packing for a trip to Yorkshire.

I must apologize for this review,no way could I do this delightful book justice without writing alot more and revealing too much. I thoroughly enjoyed being drawn back to this period of time and this area with the added touches of mystery and history. If you like mystery,you need to add this to your list. Again I now will wait for the next Lady Julia and Brisbane installment with an appearance by Grim,her pet raven who adds a little something extra for pet lovers.
