Mia Fletcher just inherited a hotel from her mother. A mother who she had been told died 24 years ago and a hotel that will need a lot of money to restore. But her mother had not died 24 years ago instead she fell in love with another man who had a son. That son grew up to become Ethan Hamilton. And Ethan is offering financial help. Mia refuses his financial help also his help in gaining answers. Answers like why her father had told her that her mother had died, why her mother never tried to contact her in those 24 years. Ethan wanted her to think of him as a big brother. But how can she think of him as a big brother when fierce heat through her every time they touched? And Ethan had promised her mother he would look after Mia. So lusting after her was not a good idea.

Favourite scene (they are talking about the past and present)

"Concentrate on the present." he said firmly

"Not sure that's wise. The present is a lust-filled disaster," she reminder him. "I'm short on cash, all but estranged from my father, totally confused about the maternal instincts of my recently deceased long-lost mother--and what do I do? I lust after you."

"Women do that a lot." he said sagely.

"Lust after you?" She could understand that.

"Multi-task," he corrected "if you were male you'd be able to concentrate on one problem at a time and ignore the rest."

Ms. Hunter pours her usual amount of wit into this story, because it had me laughing at several points. Another set of characters that wormed their way into my heart. Ethan has an awesome sense of humour and is very family orientated. Mia makes for a strong h. Even though Ethan offers her the financial help to bring the hotel back to its former glory, she refuses. She will raise the money on her own. When her father doesn't want to help her she refuses to run home with her tail between her legs. There were some serious moments which were a delight to read. I can see why this was a RITA finalist. I did feel his lightning bolt moment was a little fast.
