Snowfall at Willow Lake by Susan Wiggs (audio)

Format: Audiobook
Series: MIRA

I had been going back and forth about reading this book.  The character is Sophie Bellamy, she is the absentee mother of Daisy and Max and the ex-wife of Greg (H of the last Lakeshore book).  How could such a woman be a heroine?  Well, I should have remembered ever story has two sides.  Sophie Bellamy is a woman who strongly believes in her convictions and for much of her life, has worked towards them, working 60 hour weeks for the last two years to peacefully resolve a dispute in war-torn Africa.  During the celebration for her success (and coincidently on the same day as her Ex’s remarriage) terrorists attack causing Sophie to reevaluate her life.  She moves to Avalon, NY home of her ex and her kids to try and reconnect with them and meets Noah Sheppard, a vet with a very different attitude towards life.  As Sophie connects with her kids and begins an affair with Noah, can she change who she is to become a new person or is Avalon not the place for her?  In reading this book, you see the struggles that a working parent goes through and the wishes for retakes in our life.  I really connected with Sophie.  When I read Greg’s book, I didn’t get Sophie, but this isn’t his book, it is hers and you see how the choices she made affected her and her kids and you see her regrets.  I loved this book, it truthfully is my favorite of the Lakeshore Chronicles and I recommend everyone who like me has hesitated about it, pick it up.  My only beef, I thought Nina’s sister was a bit of b*tch in this book, I know you don’t have to love your new sister’s husband’s ex, but you don’t have to be that way, especially the nasty comments about Daisy.  Annoyed me.  Not enough to not make this an HIGHLY RECOMMEND, EXCELLENT BOOK. Totals – 118- 80 Harlequin, 26 Non-Harlequin, 13 audio, 4 re-read TBR Challenge – 19 out of 105 TBR2 Challenge – Books Acquired – 68 books, 66 books read, 39 library books (105 total print) NFM
