Snowfall at Willow Lake by Susan Wiggs-MIRA-2008

Aunt Cheryl
Format: Print Books
Series: MIRA

#56-Noah Shepherd, veterinarian, and dog,Rudy are on their way home in a snowstorm after delivering a foal. He comes upon a car stuck in a snowbank, plus a deer that had been hit. Sophie Bellamy, divorced mom to 2,is the driver who has an injured knee from the incident. Noah takes Sophie and some of her belongings to his clinic to treat her injury, then ends up convincing her to stay there until they can get to the home where she will be living.

Sophie had been a lawyer overseas who was instrumental in helping gain peace for a small country. On the night she was to have received an award, she was the victim of a kidnapping and witness to terror that still continues to affect her. She has returned to the United States to make a big change in her life-to become the mother she never was to her children, but is this going to happen? Along the way,Noah adds another dimension which she has to deal with and decide what she wants in her future.

This one was different due to the career Sophie had,but it showed how change is possible-not always easy or as we had hoped, but liveable. It included recipes also which added a special treat and interest. I did enjoy it although at first I had a tough time keeping interested. Liked all the details of the events and scenes in the winter, and of course since it was at Willow Lake. Yes,it does have a romantic and happy ending so I was glad I did get past the slow start -it may just have been me at the time ,we all know how moods can affect our reading at times.
