Sophie Bellamy, ex-wife of Greg Bellamy, has been working at The Hague in Holland to bring justice to the small country of Umoja in Africa. After being taken hostage and surviving a deathly plunge over a bridge into freezing water she decides her two children are going to become her top priority. Sophie arrives in Avalon, NY. during a nasty snow storm. Her trip ends with her rental car in the ditch and a nasty cut on her leg. Lucky for her (if any luck is there) she ends up in front of the home of Noah Shephard the local veterinarian. Since roads are impassable there are no tow trucks out or other help available but Noah comes arrives in time to rescue Sophie, even able to attend to her injury.
Sophie's journey from high powered international lawyer, to an involved mom/grandmother is quite the story. The hostage situation was so horrible that she had to rethink her priorities. The journey has a few unexpected detours, some soul searching, discoveries and an unexpected romance.
