Captain Ray Hughes has just returned from Iraq and found his house empty, his wife gone, and his son gone. After getting his son from his parents Ray deals with being a single father and his soon to be ex-wife. Chrissie Evans lives next door to Captain Hughes and is dealing with the loss of her husband, who died in Iraq. Soon these two people help each other heal the wounds left by the war.
I really enjoyed this book the character's of Ray and Chrissie were really intense. I didn't enjoy until the end the story of the other two couples, who were dealing with war. I think it would have been a better book if Ms Meyer had dealt with just Ray and Chrissie and not rushed their relationship over putting in the other two stories.
