A Soldier's Homecoming

Format: Print Books

How AWSOME!  Ethan, a soldier returning to the states after a long enlistment in the armed forces, being discharged due to an injury, decides it's time for him to find his father, a man he never knew.  As deputy Connie is patrolling the highway through Conard County, she spots a hitchhiker.  When she approaches him, she takes in his uniform and rank of a major on his lapels.  She offers him a ride into town.  When he goes into the sheriff's station, he asks to speak to the Sheriff.  He enters Cade's office and asks about Micah.  The sheriff asks Ethan what's up, because he doesn't just give out information about his deputies.  Ethan explains tha Micah is his father, but Micah doesn't know it. Cade says he will take Ethan to Micah's home, but he will stay there in the car so Micah's wife, Faith, doesn't get scared.  When Ethan gets out of the car, Faith takes a long look at Ethan and knows that Ethan is his son.  When Micah comes in from the field, Ethan tries to introduce himself, but Micah already had a feeling who Ethan was.  They sit down and start to talk.

Connie gets off her shift and goes home to meet her seven year old daughter Sophie when she gets home from school.  Sophie and her friend come running into the house saying a man was after them and had called Sophie by name.  Connie immediately calls dispatch.  Cade talks to Ethan about protecting Sophie.  They decide that Ethan will become a deputy, but stay under cover.  Since he has just returned from the war, Ethan's instincts are sharp, where as Micah and Cade have been out of that mind set for quite some time.  It is decided that Ethan will stay at Connie's home.  Spending aa lot of time together, Connie and Ethan do a lot of talking.  Ethan explains how he is a shaman, like his father.  Connie tells Ethan about her ex-husand and how he treated her.  Their romance begins slowly but steadily and all the while they watch over Sophie to keep her safe.  The ending is wonderful!
