A Soldier's Secret (SSE Aug 08)
The Women of Brambleberry House, a trilogy, is based on the story that Abigail Dandridge has died and left her beloved house, and dog Conan to Sage Benedetto and Anna Galvez. These two women each live on one floor of the three story house and rent out the middle floor. Although Abigail is not there in the flesh anymore she certainly makes her presence felt in the spirit. This is how the author describes the two main characters in the three books. (with a bit of editing) Abigail Dandridge is the spirit of an octogenarian Renaissance woman and Conan is her matchmaking dog and they have moved to the top of my list of favorite characters of all time. I really loved the pair as well. I picked up this series as it was written about Canon Beach in Oregon and we once spent some very lovely beach time there.
Book one is The Daddy Makeover-Sage’s story
Book two is His Second Chance Family-Julia’s story
Book three is A Soldiers Secret-Anna’s story
Harry Maxwell was upset. His Aunt Abigail had left Brambleberry House to two women and not him. He doesn’t need the money but he doesn’t like the idea that his beloved aunt may have been duped or hadn’t loved him. So the wounded lieutenant changed his name and moved into Sage’s former apartment on the third floor determined to find out all the facts. He does and he finds Anna as well. Can his aunt really match make from the grave?
I’m not sure if this isn’t the best book of the three. Anna is such an independent person on the outside but insecure on the inside. Max is going through such a troubled time with his career ending injury and losing his aunt. The series is definitely a keeper and I have managed to find the two stories about Anna’s brothers to read as well.
This was a great read. Good sub stories within the plot.
When I get a little money I buy books, and then if any is left I buy food and clothes..-- Erasmus
