Song of the West by Nora Roberts, Silhouette 1982
This was a read I choose because like comfort food I needed a comfort read & Nora always does that for me!
Samantha Evans is in Wyoming to stay with her twin sister while she is on bed rest during her pregnancy. Confined to the house most of the time Sam is getting a bit restless due to lack of activity. When Sam gets a chance to take a ride on one of the horses she not only falls more in love with Wyoming but meets Jake Tanner from the neighboring ranch. Something about Jake seems to bring out Sam's stubborn side which keeps these two at odds.
Jake gets a chance to show Samantha that he is a man you can depend on. Not only does he save Samantha when she is caught in an early spring snowstorm, he is the one she has to turn to when Sabrina's baby decides to come a bit early.
Samantha doesn't seem to realize she is falling in love with Jake, she keeps fighting the attraction instead of giving Jake a chance to prove he is the man for her. There is to much conflict between the two for my taste!
The first time I read this I loved it but a few years in between has taken a bit of the shine off! Still it is vintage Nora and was a nice, easy read.
