Marcos Ramirez has been planning his revenge for over 20 years. Kidnapping "party girl" Tamsin Winter on her way to her wedding is part of the revenge.
Tamsin is marrying a re-known wife-beater as part of a business deal in which she is suppose to secure a safe life for her ten year old sister.
These characters are delightfully drawn. She is a fighter, and he is looking for justice.
Now, I must talk about "forgiveness". If I want to read about people forgiving the unforgivable I will read Steeple Hill books. I don't need it mixed in with my Presents. Reading Presents is not a guilty pleasure for me, it is a pure unadulterated pleasure.
However, in this book Tamsin begs him to give up his plans for Revenge, I saw it as a quest for Justice. She felt he would never be satisfied and would continue looking for people who had wronged him and that if they were together it would poison their lives. She hung firm in her convictions. He was adamant that the wrong doers had to pay.
I am not going to tell you if he went through with it. I am not going to put a spoiler in here.
But I am going to say that the way Jennie Lucas handled the last two-three chapters was masterful.
The writing is good, worth buying the book for. The story is good, worth buying the book for. The end is delicious and well worth buying the book for.
