The Spanish Duke's Virgin Bride by Chantelle Shaw (HP 2679)

Back Cover:

Revenge, passion and an arranged marriage…

Duke Javier Herrera needs a wife in order to inherit his family's banking business. In Grace Beresford, whose father swindled Javier out of millions, Javier can take revenge and a convenient wife.

At first, Javier just wants Grace's body. But this small price she refuses to pay…despite their explosive mutual attraction. How long can Grace remain his wife in name only?

Favourite Scene: (*cracks up* He tells her she might as well go ahead and knee him!)

‘I don’t hate your touch—that much is obvious—but I hate myself,’ she whispered brokenly.

‘But we’re married!’ Javier said explosively. ‘If you won’t make love with me when you’re my wife, what the hell would you have done if I’d only offered to help your father in return for you becoming my mistress?’

Grace shivered. ‘I would have done anything to save Dad from prison,’ she said honestly. ‘I was even prepared to have sex with you, although it went against everything I believe in, but I’d planned on getting drunk first so that I wouldn’t remember too much about it.’

Javier rolled onto his back and swore savagely in his native tongue. ‘You are so good for my ego, querida. Why don’t you just kick me between the legs and have done with it?’

Another Fav Scene: (when she finally gives in to going to bed with him)

‘Nothing’s wrong, I just…’ She broke off helplessly, mesmerised by the molten heat in his eyes. ‘Hang my principles Javier!’ she burst out on a surge of bravado. ‘I want you to make love to me.’

My Review:

I love that she's fiesty and independent and stands up to him!  She's young but she gives as good as she gets and she's got principles and honour.  I love their wedding night, how he rips her dress off her, and tumbles her down onto the bed.  Mmm steamy!  I love that even when he was planning to let her go and give her back her freedom, he fully intended to wait a reasonable time (say, one week) before he came back and woo'd her so she'd come to him freely.

Lovely story, the only thing I could complain about is....

*SPOILER!*

(that the lost baby made me sad)

*/SPOILER*

The Epilogue, with it's mention of their future babies just made me smile and feel the warmth of the moment, great closure!

My Rating: 4.5/5 stars, such a warm, passionate, sympathetic story, I really felt the emotions in this one and the H/h made a lasting love match.
