Stealing Home by Sherryl Woods-MIRA-Feb 07
#52-Maddie Townsend is now faced with many changes in her life. After 20 years of marriage to Bill,a doctor & having three kids, divorce is now on the agenda. This only because of his affair with his 24-yr.old nurse who is now pg. Somehow it just doesn't seem fair after she put her dreams and life on hold to put him through med school. Her lawyer, who also is her very good friend,Helen, has made sure Maddie sees some compensation.
Helen and Dana Sue are her two friends who make up The Sweet Magnolias as they have been known since school days. Now they have a brilliant idea,to purchase the old Victorian home and turn it into a fitness spa for women, with Maddie in charge. The planning, preparations and coaxing that go into this venture add much to the enjoyment of the book.
Of course we have to have problems with the teenage boy,but that only brings his baseball coach into the picture, and leads to much disruption in the quiet town of Serenity. Noreen, the pg girlfriend may appeal to Dr. Bill but she doesn't rate high on the kids' list.
Maddie's birthday is near the end of the story and is quite a different time as Coach Cal Maddox is there and ex-husband,Bill appears to try to reconcile.
I am so glad I brought this out of my TBR as it was just the book I needed, and the best part is there are two more in the series so I can linger in the lives of Maddie,Dana Sue & Helen even longer. I do recommend this one to everyone as Sherryl Woods seems to hit on an area for all who like a good read. Off to start the next one in the series,A Slice of Heaven.
