Blurb: Book 1 Mage Storms. Karse and Valdemar have been enemies for generations, and their peoples are filled with prejudices and mistrust that may be impossible to overcome.

Even the young Karsite represintative to Valdemaran court, Karal, finds it difficult to accept that the Heralds aren't "White Demon" and that the Companions aren't "Hellhorses", as most Karsites have for so long. Only the vile deed of perpetrated on both the kingdoms by Ancar of Hardorn, and the subsequent emergence of the armie of the Eastern Empire in the wake of his defeat, have forced these two so-different lands into an uneasy coalition. Forced to combat this mysterious and deadly foe, not only must the two traditional enemies unite, but the Companions may at last be forced to reveal secrets which they have kept hidden for centuries.

I hadn't read these in years. I enjoyed reaquainting myself with the characters. Karal and An'desha and all their friends are an endearing lot of youngsters pushed into extrodinary instances that really let each shine in their own ways.
