Strong and Sexy by Jill Shalvis, Brava, January 2008 (book 2- Sky High)

Sky High Air is hosting a party for one of their important, rich, client and naturally since Shayne Mahoney is part owner, he is in attendance. But he soon finds himself in a closet kissing Dani Peterson, the client's daughter. The daughter everyone says is crazy. When she leaves she witnesses a murder but when she brings Shayne to the scene there is no evidence that a crime has taken place. Later she believes someone is in her apartment and again calls Shayne. Is she imaging these things? Is someone out to make her look crazy? She doesn't imagine the gun she finds in her coat pocket. The same coat that had been in the Sky High coat closet all night. Shayne isn't much for commitment. He rarely dates women more than once. He distances himself from them, but with Dani he is drawn to her and situations arise that throws them together. Dani is like a breath of fresh air. She doesn't seem to fall at his feet especially when he mentions he is a pilot.

This book was hilarious and suspenseful. Ms. Shalvis adds an air of quirkiness and realism to her writing. Dani had Shayne shaking his head a few times trying to figure out what she was trying to say. I liked Dani's explanation for not dating him. Tens date tens, sixes date sixes, if a ten dates a six the six is headed for heartache. I can't wait to get my hands on Superb and Sexy about Brody, another owner in Sky High and Maddie, their concierge. The sexual tension is already crackling between these two. Hopefully I can pick it up Monday.
