Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas, Other publisher, 2007

From the back cover: She's from the wrong side of the tracks, He's the one man she can't have.

Liberty Jones is the daughter of a single mom.  Liberty and her mom have recently moved into a trailer park in Welcome, Texas where she meets Hardy.  Hardy becomes a good friend to Liberty helping her overcome some tough times in her young life.  As they grow up Liberty starts to fall in love with Hardy but he is determined to leave Welcome so he can make something of his life.

When Liberty was in her teens her mother gives birth to another daughter, Carrington.  From the day she was born Carrington seems to belong more to Liberty than to her mother.  The journey of teenage sister to teenage legal guardian and becoming an adult is not easy for Liberty but she persevers never resenting Carrington or how hard it is to earn enough money.

Life becomes kinder for Liberty and Carrington after she meets a wealthy man, Churchill Travis.  Just when Liberty is starting a relationship with one of Churchill's sons, Hardy comes back into her life.  Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Not a romance exactly but a book well worth reading.  You can't help but admire a young girl/woman's struggle to survive against some very tough odds.
