Sweet Talk

Format: Print Books
Series: HQN

sweettalkThis was the first in Susan Mallery's newest trilogy.

Claire Keyes was a child prodigy, and because of that she and her sisters did not have the chance to grow up together and develop normal sibling relationships.  Claire was swept into the world of concert pianists at a young age, and her mother eventually went with her, forcing her twin sister to raise her baby sister.

Sweet Talk has a lot of immature moments on the behalf of all the characters.  As befitting a book that truly does focus on Claire she is the one who shows the most potential growth.  It's going to be interesting to read the rest of the trilolgy and see how the sibling relationships change.

Hey Sandi - I read this though I haven't posted my blog yet

but I found that Mallery's creating a wide character arc for the sisters just didn't work for me, I didn't like the sisters and have no interest in reading their stories

Hopefully that will change by the time the books arrive

I normally love SM, but

I normally love SM, but plan on taking a pass on this series, I just never thought the characters seemed like people I wanted to read about.

Hmmm...

I'd heard a lot of good things about this book and trilogy. I've got all three on my TBR shelves at home. Guess I'll have to read and see for myself. Wink

Sweet Talk

I too have heard a lot of stuff about these books.  Last night at book club I asked who had read them.  I knew one lady had and she had totally raved about them.

Another lady said she had read Sweet Talk, and hated it so much she wasn't going to read the others...she just had no interest.  I then asked if she had read the previous series...The Buchannans.  She said she had, and that she had really enjoyed those.

That made me feel somewhat redeemed because I really expect her opinions about books, and I too have now read two of the three books, and I too am not overly thrilled, and like The Buchannan books so much better!

Finished...

I knew people didn't seem really thrilled with this new trilogy of Susan Mallery's...  I just finished reading Sweet Talk and have posted my review.  Unlike most of you I loved it!  Yes, the sisters were somewhat hateful, never thought about the immaturity but I was fascinated by the family dynamics.  Since few families are as perfect as what we see on TV shows I found this very real.  Given that these three sisters never got to develop a normal sibling relationship I thought how things progressed was very interesting.  Just my humble opinion!  Wink  Can't wait to pick up the next book, Sweet Spot, which I will be doing once I finish here at eHarlequin.

I hope everyone has had a great Saturday.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Take care, happy reading,
