Sweet Talk by Susan Mallery, HQN 7/2008
To all Susan Mallery fans if you haven't started reading this trilogy don't wait to long!
Since receiving my Harlequin order yesterday I dove into this trilogy about the Keyes sisters. This first book is about Claire, a piano prodigy that started playing at three years old. Her family sent her to New York for training, lessons and performing at a very young age. She wasn't given a choice but she was to young to make that type of decision. Now Claire is twenty eight years old with a desire to be normal. Because she had no childhood, because she has always had a manager Claire has no idea what normal is or how to be normal. She receives an unexpected phone call from her youngest sister, Jesse, asking to help while Nicole has surgery. What Claire doesn't know is that Nicole has no desire to see her or have her help. What happens once Nicole is forced to accept that Claire is there to stay through surgery and recovery is an interesting tale into family dynamics and discovery. Did I mention that Nicole and Claire are twins? Fraternal twins that had never been apart until Claire was wisked away to become a well known pianist.
Nicole seems so bitter and hateful. Claire is willing to accept that there is some justification but is very disappointed that Nicole and Jesse don't seem to realize that Claire was never given any choices, even as she matured. Now Claire is wanting to learn how to stand up for herself and to fight for what she wants. Enter Claire's manager, Lisa, Wyatt, one of Nicole's best friends, and his daughter Amy.
A fascinating story about family, the good, the bad and the not so pretty! I loved it and can't wait to pick up the next one, Sweet Spot. I'll be back with my review on that one!!

Hey Donna - I'm glad you enjoyed it
My "problem" with it is that it's TOO well written, the sisters put me off so I'm not really interested in reading about people I don't like
Books 2 and 3 haven't arrived yet to I have time to get over it
but I'm still feeling dicey

No more excuses, just READ!
Hi Sadhbh,
Interesting how different our views are. I just finished reading & posting Sweet Spot which I also liked. Great sarcastic humor as this book is about Nicole. Sometimes humor is strictly in the eyes of the reader!!
Since I finished this book so quickly it is obvious it was hard to put down. I'm ready to go pick up Sweet Trouble as soon as I finish with my visit here.
I hope you had a good weekend. You are probably sleeping now since there is a big time difference between us.
Take care, happy reading,
