This is the first book that I have read by this author and I liked it very much. There was a lot of intrigue to go along with the unconventional romance. Haakon Haroldson is saved from death by Annis of Birdoswald when he is involved in the "raid" of her uncle's abbey. The heathens (Viken) destroy, rape and pillage but because of his honor Haakon sets Annis free. If only she had stayed there! Very good story and now I'm looking forward to the next Viking story that Michelle Styles will have coming out later in the year. I thinking I may need to look into some of her past books as well.
