Backcover Synopsis - A VIKING RAID

They claimed they came in peace, but soon Lindisfarne was aflame.  annis of Birdoswald fled in fear, but she could not escape the Norse warriors.

AN HONORABLE CAPTOR

One man protected her --Haakon Haroldson.  the dark arrogant Viking swept Annis back to his homeland taking her away from all she held dear.

A NEW LIVE--AS HIS MISTRESS!

Now annis must choose between the lowly work that befits a captive or a life of sinful pleasure in the Viking's arms!

Personal Opinion - Michelle Styles has written another great book.  This one takes place  at an earlier time to the last Viking saga, a time when the Viking are just beginning to sail out to trade with their neighbours in other countries.  It gave the reader some insight into the daily lives of the Vikings as well as their method of ruling themselves.  I have really enjoyed these Vikings books as they give me some insight into my own heritage.

Thank you

I am so pleased you enjoyed the book. As I am part Swedish and Norwegian (maternal grandfather), I loved doing the research -- even managed to fall off an Icelandic horse....Icelandic horses are the direct descendents of Viking horses and have a different gait than other horses.

I really enjoyed it and am

I really enjoyed it and am interested in Vikings.  I have learned so much about them from reading historical novels.  My father was Norwegian and my maternal grandmother was Icelandic so it is interesting to learn about their early beginnings, other than that they were berserkers.

Iceland and Norway

Have you been to either country? They are both fantastic... if a bit expensive. Iceland Air has special deals where you can break in your journey for three or four days and still have it considered part of the same journey.

And have you read This Shining Land by Rosalind Laker which is about Norway during WW2? Absolutely excellent. It was published in the mid 1980s.

I've been to Norway twice

I've been to Norway twice but I have never been to Iceland. I have a cousin in Oslo that I talk to but Dad actually came from near Bergen so much of the family is there. I haven't read the Shining Land but I did see a movie/documentary on the children who were born of German fathers and raised in special homes until after the war that was very interesting but I can't remember the name of it.
