Talk of the Ton
A fun read.
The female characters both the herione and her sister are fiesty, for lack of a better word. Beth starts the book out by doing the unthinkable. She dresses in some of her father's old clothes, travels to London and goes to the docks to say goodbye to a dear friend. Little does she realise that her mode of dress does not hide the fact that she is a woman. She is rescued from some sailors bent on giving her a hard time and brought to her uncle's, The Duke's, house. Andrew is convinced no one saw him bring the girl who steals his heart without him even knowing it was happening, home but somehow rumors begin. Of course, Beth will not force anyone to marry to save face and her uncle does a fine job with keeping her acceptable to the ton. So, Andrew is forced to figure out a way to convince her that he wants her not to make everyone else happy but himself. To confuse the issue even more for Beth, her sister has decided that Andrew would make a fine husband for herself. It is a complete tangled mess and fun to read how it all comes together in the end.
