Gavrael McIllioch was a Beserker, a man with superhuman strength. Convinced his father killed his mother in a bout of insanity before the MacKane destroyed his village, Gavrael changed his name to Grimm. The boy hid in the woods for two years before being found by Jillian St. Clair and brought to her home where he grew to manhood under the tutuleage of her father and then made a name for himself as a mercenary. However, Jillian has always had eyes for only him and when her father tricks three men, including Grimm, to come to her home to court and marry her, things get interesting. Grimm feels that he can't acknowledge his love for Jillian because he's a Beserker and he believes his father's family contains madness. So Grimm pushes the other men, his best friend Quinn and Ramsey Logan at Jillian. In the end, Grimm abducts Jillian from her wedding and goes home to face his past.
This is my first trip into the realm of the paranormal and I must say that I enjoyed the book. Grimm's story is a tragic one but the love that simmers between Grimm and Jillian is a true love story. I give this book an A-.
