Techniques of the Selling Writer
Well, I'm not a selling writer yet (those two articles don't count!), but I definitely am working towards being one. This classic on writing popular fiction (first published 1965) is often quoted in writing courses, so I bought it as my birthday present to myself. I am so glad I did!
Althought not specifically aimed at romance writers (his target audience seems to be a writer of adventure or confession type short stories), there is a huge amount of useful information here for the aspiring romance writer. This book is all about creating characters that readers can identify with and care about, deepening emotion, building believable conflict, and keeping the plot moving forward for that elusive page turning quality.
I plan to read this again and write lots of notes applying his tips to my wip!
Because we all deserve a happy ending!
