OMG, what a beautiful romance! Left me with joyful tears! A treasure for the heart.
Liz Fielding's THE TEMP AND THE TYCOON is the eleventh book in a 24 book collection of classic short story romances celebrating the 100th birthday of the publisher Mills and Boon. Liz Fielding brings together a wonderful hero and heroine on a riveting journey of humorous dramatic conflicts to a final extraordinary moment that expresses the sheer power of love to transform hearts.
Talie Calhoun is late for the first day on her new temp job! Once inside the elevator of Radcliffe Tower, she can't help but share her first day jitters with the unknown sexy man standing beside her ---- a man she doesn't realize is her new boss! Jude, a man of all business and no play, just does not know what to make of Talie and her unusual reason for tardiness. When the two of them are unexpectedly forced to work together, how will he tame her propensity for joy, misadventure and living life to the fullest? Hard as he might try to keep their minds on business, can Talie show Jude how to open up his heart and savor each moment? When attraction sparks, will Jude's dedication to detail and long term strategies win Talie's heart and open their lives to a dream neither of them thought even possible?
In THE TEMP AND THE TYCOON, Liz Fielding brings together two opposites in a story that takes the reader on a journey of laughter and misadventure, romantic tension all the way to an ending full of joy and emotion. Talie's guilelessness mixed with professional excellence bubbles right off the page into the heart, a wonderful combination that touches both the little girl and woman within us all. Jude's attention to business detail has earned him a reputation to be envied, but when he turns that same dedication to winning the woman he loves, love takes a heart-warming magical turn.
Liz Fielding's is the master of memorable detail. How can anyone forget Talie's crazy hair or Jude's reaction to her! Or that one detail of attire that expresses so much sexiness and romance together in just a few words! The ending brought a tear or two to my eye, as much for the beauty of the writing as the emotion of the story. Talia's story is not to be missed! THE TEMP AND THE TYCOON is a must read for Liz Fielding fans and a great way for those new to this author to see for themselves why this author's romances captivate with stories that move the heart with a richness of emotion that fills the reader with deep joy. THE TEMP AND THE TYCOON is beautiful ---beautiful for its writing, beautiful for its emotion, beautiful for bringing together two vulnerable people whose love for one another opens doors.
Personal notes:
If you are a Liz Fielding lover or want to be moved, I just cannot tell you how much this story moved me. It is worth every penny to take a cyber trip to the UK and get this one before it disappears. This is a romance that wll have you smiling and crying tears of joy to see the depth of Jude's love for Talie. This romance is a treasure.
I am counting this book as a book despite its page length of just under 100 pages. Not only does it deserve a blog all its own because this is one BIG romance but also, I have a 950+ page book I am required to read in the next month or three so it evens out with room to spare.

Great review!
I really do need to try one of Liz Fielding's books......
The D2K Paranormal Junkies 2008 Challenge
This was originally released in NA ...
in November 2005 in a Harlequin Romance titled "Strictly Business" ... there was this novella and one by Hannah Bernard called the Fiance Deal
I agree ... this is a very good lovestory ... I enjoyed it very much when it came out ... it's somewhere with my keepers

my new addiction--- Liz Fielding books and Mills & Boon
Katherine T, this book is going on my keeper shelves as well.
I have been going wild checking out the MIlls and Boon site recently with all these centennial products! They have this collection of 24 short romance stories a very good price and the shipping is not as bad as it is for mutli-book orders from US shopping places that charge per item. It is a cool collection to celebrate the 100th birthday. Irresistable really even for NA seeing the price for all 24 books. Can't beat that price for books with shipping Mills and Boon is charging to the US. I figured it is about $2 give or take a book which is not even possible for used books online.
I love these Mills and Boon anthologies too with 3 short stories like 100 Arabian Nights. I have one that is 3 Liz Fielding stories in one book and I wish I had known about the Mills and Boon site and Book Depository (free shipping) site before I discovered it because I bought that one new from a bookstore in the UK and paid an arm and leg to get it shipped here..and then by accident gave my old address but it made it to our new home nevertheless thanks to the nice folks at the USPS who knew me and forwarded it even after the forwarding had expired. Now...if only the Australian Mills and Boon had better shipping rates because they have a good price on ALL 6 medicals!
A good currency converter at www.xe.com that my old boss used for doing international business.
Liz Fielding is one of my all time favorite authors and that feeling grows with each story I read.

I frequent Mills & Boon UK .....
fortunately for me, I have many of the reprinted shorts already in either my TBR or my keepers .....many were novellas in anthologies or grouped with another novella in the Romances or Presents ... it's heartening to see them republished
I was rather surprised to find that the 100 Arabian Nights are all "new" novellas ...or if they have been I was unable to find their original publication ...the other anthologies in the Special Releases are collections of previously published stories
I do find the UK books dear though .... pound sterling is 1/2 the value of a Canadian dollar ... so I have to remember to double the amount .... Aus books are slightly more when you take our Challenge discount into effect .... (that's one of the reasons why I don't subscribe because if I get free shipping the books actually work out cheaper bought from the bookstore) .... but you are so right about the shipping fees .. but considering where they are coming from, what can we expect
I use one of my banks' foreign exchange calculator as it also factors in the financial institutes fees for handling the exchange ... TD Bank Foreign Exchange ... but these days it's pretty easy ... US, Cdn, Aus dollars are pretty much par ... Cdn dollar to UK pound sterling is 2 to 1
I find that UK Sellers on eBay are usually pretty good with their shipping rates .... I've purchased quite a few hard to find M&B out of prints that way
the Book Depository is a good deal if you are ordering books that M&B UK no longer carries ... if you only want a few books it's actually cheaper through M&B UK as the Book Depository charges a premium for each book to cover the over all costs of the shipping .... and I've found that three books ship to Canada for the price of one usually off the M&B ... so I usually add up the costs on each side before placing orders ..

From my understanding,. That way the author and publisher gets a royalty and it is new! No creases, mustiness, or bent page corners or broken spines, etc. For some reason, I personally have good luck with overseas shipping from the UK.
Most US booksellers charge that much for shipping used books before the cost of the book (!) now that the US has increased postage rates! I am a Liz Fielding romance addict but for me, this book is worth every penny and then some. That last scene is one I will remember always. This hero is really unique...oh my, she captures something so beautiful. But I am not telling
And Talie---- I love her. She makes me think about how I feel about books and I just love the sense of wonder she has---she is smart but she doesn't lose the wonder. When I was an adolescent, I made a pact with myself never to lose my sense of wonder...well, now as an adult, the two areas where I can say I have not lost my sense of wonder are books and animals. Talie was a heroine after my own heart..and so was the hero.
Katherine, the US dollar is about 1/2 the UK lb too lately. The Mills and Boon shipping charges is reasonable to the US for multi book orders but The Book Depository is free shipping for those one book must have items. I do wish the US dollar was better though overall for book prices because I can see that I am finding new places to explore!
The Australian book prices are better overall for the US but the Australian shipping charges are lots more than the UK shipping so I am not sure. I can see I will be checking out Mills and Boon Special Offers a lot more.

Thank you!
Thank you so much, Merri for loving Talie and Jude's story. It is one of my own favourites. I used a couple of personal experiences in writing it. The "crash" as the plane takes off happened exactly that way to me!
Katherine is right, The Temp & the Tycoon was originally published as a two-in-one Harlequin Romance called Strictly Business, with Hannah Bernard, so you may be able to find a used copy.
The 100 Arabian Nights anthology, on the other hand, contains all brand new novellas written specifically for the M&B Centenary and published in the UK as a single title. Maybe Harlequin will print it as part of their own Jubilee celebrations next year.

And...
Just a thought, but you can get both these titles from Amazon.ca -- and probably a lot of other UK pub'd titles.
