This is the 4th book in the Arcane Society series. The heroine is Leona Hewitt who has the special ability to read crystals. The Aurora Stone has been passed down to the women in her family for years but it was stolen from Leona's mother years ago. Now she has word that the stone is in Lord Delbridge's possesion so she dresses as a man and searches for it during a private party. She expects it will be easy to find the stone because she has a special ability to feel when it is near. What she does not expect is to trip over a dead body or to run into Thaddeus Ware. He is also there for the Aurora Stone but Leona is not going to give it up. They are soon working together to stop a killer. I enjoyed this installment in the series. Leona and Thaddeus were both likable. This series jumps from historical to contemporary but I think you can read only the historical or contemporary without having to read both if you want and you would not miss anything.

I think my favorite part of this book is what happens to the villans - what idiots not to think things through - especially because they thought they were so superior because they were men.
