Thunderstruck (Feb. 2007_

Mick Churchill, soccer--er, football--star, is interested in buying out Shelby Jackson's partner in a NASCAR team.  However, Shelby has to approve the deal, and she isn't certain that she wants a hotshot sportstar who knows nothing about racing as a partner.  The problems between the two are compounded by their amazing chemistry, some issues with the team's driver, and some information that Mick is keeping from Shelby.

This is a fairly good read.  However, I had some difficulty getting into it at the beginning of the book.  I was probably three or four chapters into the story before I was good and hooked.

Last year

I read this last year and seem to recall it taking a while to get into the book.  However, I did enjoy it once I got into it.

I just finished Michele Dunaway's OUT OF LINE!  Ooh, la la, look at the guy on this cover!!

TBR--The Born Readers

Well...

This was actually the second time I started the book.  When I initially ordered it, there was some weird screw-up with the chapters.  Of course, Reader Service replaced it for me, but I was still irritated at the interrupted read when I got the new one, so I just tossed it in the TBR pile.  When I was searching for something a little different after a disappointing read, my stack of NASCAR books caught my eye, but I figured I should start with the older ones since I have no idea if any of them are related.  In fact, No Holding Back looked like it should be the beginning of a series, but I don't see anything else in my pile by Liz Allison/Wendy Etherington.

I do seem to remember that I had difficulty getting into the book the first time, too, now that you mention it.  Maybe it wasn't because I was in a little bit of a slump after all.

Hmmmm, the only thing by Michele Dunaway that I have in my pile is Hart's Victory.  Am I missing something else that is good?  I have an order started in my cart, but it isn't up to $25 yet, so I refuse to checkout...

BTW, did you catch the race last night?  Holy cow!  Was the end something or what?  I love those close finishes, but the J-man was horribly disappointed as he is a huge Carl Edwards fan.  (We aren't allowed to shop at Staples if he is with us on office supply trips Smile).
